Teaching & Lifestyle

Your opportunity to experience Victoria

Adventist Schools Victoria is your ticket to a supportive professional culture with tailored career development in Australia's most liveable city.

The VIC Ticket is designed for first-year students at Avondale University to discover what teaching at an Adventist school and living in Victoria could mean for them. During the day students buddy up with experienced teachers at our five metropolitan schools, and in the evenings we visit some of Melbourne's best experiences.

What does a week on the VIC Ticket look like?

Make no mistake, it's a busy week. We don't want you to miss out on anything, so the week is jam packed full of opportunities to learn and experience life in Victoria.

  • Learn from experienced teachers
At each school we visit during the week, we pair you up with an experienced teacher in your field. Not only will you have the opportunity to observe, and experience what it's like to teach in their classroom, but you'll get to see what different teaching styles look like across schools.
  • Melbourne's Adventist Culture
Each day you'll experience the spiritual culture that permeates our school communities. And on the weekend, a local church hosts our group for the day for their worship service and lunch.

  • Melbourne is Australia's experience capital, so obviously...
Expect adventure, flavours, events and a bit of downtime. We plan some social activities, events, great restaurants and also squeeze in some downtime for you to explore Melbourne for yourself.

  • Getting around
You'll be staying in a central location, and we travel together in the bus out to schools and activities. For the times when you're exploring Melbourne independently, you'll have a transport card to help you travel with ease.

2025

What did last year look like?

We first ran this trip in 2025 to give Avondale University students an opportunity to experience Adventist Schools Victoria. Fourteen students were selected to attend and overall described their experience as ‘Insightful’ ‘Educational’ ‘Exciting’.

A big highlight for me was being in the schools and having an insight into what my future would be like as a teacher.
